Teach you to use old hardware drivers to help Windows XP

I am a Wenquxing enthusiast, and often pass some software to the Wenquxing through the parallel port. Due to a careless operation, the integrated parallel port on the motherboard was burned. Later in the magazine, I saw that I could get another parallel port by adding an ISA multi-function card. So I bought a multi-function card for ISA. After installation, turn off the integrated parallel port on the motherboard in BiOS. Then boot into Windows XP and view it in Device Manager, and there is no printer port. Regardless of it, forcibly installed a printer port in the new hardware in the control panel, set it to lpt1, follow the prompts to reboot, enter the device manager, and finally have the printer port, and there is no question mark. So run Hotlink (software to send files to Wenquxing), ready to try to send an article to Wenquxing. However, the communication is always prompted. Did you buy a bad card?
Changed a computer and tried again, the card is good. But why can't I use it on my machine, is it a motherboard problem, or is XP not supported? I installed Windows 95 on my computer, and then tried the multi-function card with Hotlink, and I was able to communicate with Wenquxing. Analysis, since Windows 95 can be used, Windows XP can not be used, it is estimated that the driver under Windows XP is not correct, then can you borrow Windows 95 driver to borrow it? . Go to Windows XP, find the printer port that you forced to install in the system properties, right-click to select Properties, switch to the driver page, click the Update Driver button, select Advanced Installation (do not let Windows XP search for the driver), and then choose to install from disk. The disk here is the INF subfolder under the Windows 95 Windows folder (you must remove the hidden attribute of the inf folder in advance), the installer will find a suitable driver, the installation process prompts you to need an lpt.vxd file, this The files are in the Windows\\System folder of the Windows 95 system. After the installation is restarted, the Hotlink connection program is run, and a file is transmitted and the transmission is successful. Then look at the driver file of the printer port in the device manager and found that there is one more LPT.VXD file than before.
Practice the truth: the old-fashioned ISA card can't be used under WindowsXP, but if you can use it in the old system, you may try to use the old driver, maybe there are unexpected surprises.
