Cheats: Win98/XP dual system safely remove XP

Recently, the author has two friends who have encountered the same problem. Their computers are equipped with Win98 and WinXP operating systems, which are installed in two different hard disk partitions (Win98 in C partition, WinXP in D partition), and they are always safe. Recently, due to the lack of hard disk, I plan to delete the less used XP. One of the friends "self-made smart" directly formatted the D partition where XP is located. As a result, Win98 can no longer be successfully launched. So another friend asked the author to discuss this issue. After some exploration, we found the correct way to remove XP in the dual boot system, which is provided for your reference.

1, first of all, to take advantage of Win98 boot floppy disk to start the computer into DOS mode.

2 (16) 贒 In the OS mode, type the “FDISK/MBR” command line and press the Enter key to execute this command.

3, type "SYS C:" in DOS mode, and hit Enter to execute. This command transfers the Win98 operating system boot file of the A disk to the root directory of the C drive.

4, restart the computer, Win98 user interface will appear, and finally in the C: several root directory will delete the following files:

Pagefile.sys

Boot. Ini

Ntldr

Ntdetect.com

Ntbootdd.sys (may not exist)

At this point, you can safely put the XP operating system in place The hard disk partition is formatted.

5, Note: This method applies only to WinXP and Win98 are installed on different hard disk partition, and XP partition can not be the primary active partition (Primary Active Partition).
