Improved Windows XP open window

        In Windows XP, there are several system-defined folders on the left side of many software open or save windows. Is there a way to replace them with our usual folders? Of course, using Group Policy can improve your open window.

Click Start→Run and enter gpedit.msc to open the Group Policy editor window. Choose User Configuration→Administrative Templates→Windows Components→Windows Explorer→Common Open File Dialog and double-click the item displayed in the location bar in the right window to open the “Items displayed in the location bar” property window. Click on the "Enabled" item in the "Settings" tab, you will see that there are 5 items under the "displayed position" in the middle, which correspond to the 5 buttons in the open window. Just enter your usual folder path in the input box after these items, you can see this common folder button on the left side of the open window, and finally click the OK button to complete the settings.

OK, open Notepad now, select "File → Open", hey, the button on the left has become our favorite folder (pictured). If you want to change it back later, just select the "Disabled" or "Not Configured" option in the "Items displayed in the location bar" property window.

However, the above method is invalid for the open window in MS Office. Changing the open window of Office must be implemented by modifying the registry.
Open the registry editor, expand the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Office\\11.0\\Common\\OpenFind\\Places\\UserDefinedPlaces" branch (Note: 11.0 in the key path is different with the Office version, Office2003 is 11.0, OfficeXP Is 10.0, Office2000 is 9.0), create a new "item", and then create two new "string values" under the new item: one named "name", the key value is "my file"; one named "path" ", the key value is "H:\\ME\\My Files", which are used to specify the name and path of the button to be added. Repeat this step to add additional folder buttons. After that, we can right-click the new button in the Open window of Office and select "Move Up" to adjust the position of these buttons, or you can choose to rename or delete.
