· Undo Windows XP comes with features not fully manual (1)

Although Windows XP has many features and ease of use than previous systems, many features mean that Take up more system resources. In fact, some of the features that come with Windows XP are no better than third-party software. In order to make the system more refreshing, I have collected some ways to undo Windows XP's own functions and share it with you.

First, undo the support of compressed files
From Windows Me, Microsoft has built-in support for ZIP files in the system, users can view ZIP files as folders. Now WinRAR is now the most popular compression software, presumably your system is equipped with this software. Forbid the Zip file function, just cancel the registration of zipfldr.dll. Click "Start → Run", enter "regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll" (without quotes, the same below) in the run input box, press Enter.
Similarly, if you don't like the system to view the CAB archive, type "regsvr32 /u cabview.dll" to cancel the registration of cabview.dll.

Second, undo video preview and burn function
Whenever you select a video file with Explorer, XP will preview it in the left panel, but this is often necessary for larger video files. Read the first half of the day. The user does not need to preview in most cases. The forbidden method is also very simple. You can undo the video preview by typing "regsvr32 /u schmedia.dll" in the run input box.
Windows Media Player has been adding the burning function since 8.0, and does not say its bugs, it can not be compared with professional software such as Nero. To disable this function, modify the registry. In the Registry Editor, expand the primary key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion], and create a new one in the right panel as "NoCDBurning" double-byte value (DWORD). The value is changed to "1" can be (Figure 1).

Third, undo the memory function of the registry editor
Windows XP inherits the memory of the registry editor in Windows Me, but this feature However, it has caused the opposite effect, causing inconvenience to the user. There are two steps to undo it:
1. Run the registry editor and find the primary key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Applets\\Regedit ], delete the "LastKey" key value on the right panel (Figure 2);

Figure 2

2. Click the mouse on the Regedit branch in the left panel.
Right click, select the “Permissions” command in the pop-up shortcut menu, and set “Full Control” and “Read” in the “Administrators Permissions” window to “Reject” (Figure 3). .

Figure 3

Fourth, undo the scheduled task
Whenever the system is connected to other computers, it will check all the scheduled tasks on the other computer, the inspection requires 30 Waiting time in seconds. We don't want to spend time on this, expand the primary key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\RemoteComputer\\NameSpace] in the Registry Editor, delete its subkeys, and Windows will not check the scheduled tasks. (Figure 4).

V. Undoing the automatic installation of IE components
Since the system uses IE components to install automatically, sometimes using Internet Explorer browser to access certain web pages, A dialog box for downloading and installing the IE component program is displayed. I don't really like this feature. If you have this feeling, you can use the following steps to undo it through Group Policy:
1. Enter "gpedit.msc" in the "Run" dialog box to activate Group Policy. "Management window.
2. In the console tree on the left, expand "Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Internet Explorer", then double-click the "Disable automatic installation of Internet Explorer components" option in the right panel, open "Disable Internet Explorer components" Automatic Installation Properties dialog.
3. In the "Settings" tab, set "Disable automatic installation of Internet Explorer components" to "Enabled", click the "OK" button to make the settings take effect (Figure 5).

Figure 5
Later, when you use IE, the system will not automatically install the IE component program. If you want to re-use the Internet Explorer component auto-install feature later, just set "Disable automatic installation of Internet Explorer components" to "Disabled".
Set the "Disable regular check of Internet Explorer software updates" option to customize whether to perform regular updates of IE.

Six, undo Windows XP auto restart and automatically send error report
Is it sometimes when using Windows XP, pop up some error prompts after Windows XP automatically restarts, because Microsoft designed the automatic restart function, but for some users, this feature not only did not help, but lost the data saved in the future.
The "My Computer" icon on the desktop (the "My Computer" icon in the start menu is also available) right-click, select "Properties" from the pop-up menu, and switch to "Advanced" in the pop-up properties window. Tab, click the "Settings" button in the "Startup and Recovery" group, and uncheck the "Automatically Restart" checkbox in the pop-up window (Figure 6).

Figure 6

Similarly, click the "Error Report" button in the "Advanced" tab, pop up the "Error Report" window as shown in Figure 7, select "Disable Error" Report the way, and undo the "Notify me when a serious error occurs" checkbox, and finally click the "OK" button to return. From this system error report will not bother you again.

Figure 7

Seven, undo group similar taskbar
Group similar taskbar function can automatically group similar taskbar buttons when opening too many task windows, after grouping Multiple windows opened by the same program will be folded into a button. Clicking this button with the left mouse button will display all the windows (Figure 8). Right-clicking the button will close the windows at once. However, this function will cause trouble for us to switch between multiple task windows. If you want to disable it, you can right-click on the blank space of the taskbar and select "Properties" in the pop-up menu. Cancel the "Group similar taskbar button" in the "Bar" tab.

Figure 8

In fact, this function can make the user more convenient to manage the window, but the system prematurely organizes the taskbar grouping, we can customize this function by modifying the registry: In the Registry Editor, expand the primary key [HKEY_CURRENT_Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Advanced], and create a new one in the right window for the "TaskbarGroUPS
ize" double-byte key-value item (DWORD value). Type), and assign the desired number of specific windows. If it is set to 8, the system will only group the taskbar after the open window on the taskbar reaches 8.

8. Undo hidden inactive icons
When there are a lot of icons in the system tray, Windows XP will automatically detect and hide icons that have been inactive for some time. Don't like the system to be smart, disable it by the following method: Right-click in the blank space of the taskbar, select "Properties" in the pop-up shortcut menu, and "Hide inactive icons in the "Taskbar" tab. "Cancel (Figure 9). Of course, users who feel that this feature is easy to use can click the "Customize" button to set the hidden and displayed items of their own, and use this function purposefully.

Figure 9

Nine, Undo Desktop Cleanup Wizard
By default, the system will automatically run the Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days, the wizard will be you in the last 60 Shortcut icons that have not been used in the day and moved to the new "Unused Desktop Shortcuts" folder on the desktop.
The undo method is also quite simple: right click on the desktop, select "Properties" in the pop-up shortcut menu, select the "Desktop" tab in the "Display Properties" dialog box, and then click "Customize Desktop" " button, in the "General" tab, undo the "Run desktop cleanup wizard every 60 days" checkbox (Figure 10).

Figure 10

10, undo disk space report
When hard disk
one of the partitions of the disk space is relatively small, Windows XP will Keep popping up on the taskbar to pop up the disk with insufficient prompts to "harass" the user. To revoke it, you need to use the registry editor, expand the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/Explorer] branch, and create a new double-byte key-value item in the right window as "NoLowDiskSpaceChecks". Assigned to "1" (Figure 11), it will take effect after restarting the system.

Figure 11

Of course, there are many other items that remove the built-in features of Windows XP, such as deleting redundant hidden installation components through the "sysoc.inf" file (such as Figure 12, file in the C: \\ WINDOWS \\ inf folder, with hidden properties), turn off the debugger Dr. Watson, turn off system restore and so on. These skills must be familiar to everyone, I will skip here.
