Time synchronization in WinXP SP2

The author uses the WinXP+SP2 system. Since the system time of the author is often slow, the system's "time synchronization" function is used (Figure 1). However, the default time synchronization interval for this feature is one week, and the author's system time is much slower a day. You can only double-click the time in the tray area to display the time. After the dialog box appears, manually click the "Update Now" button to achieve "Time Synchronization".

However, after a long time, the author feels very inconvenient, so I want to find a solution to make the "time synchronization" interval shorter. Then I finally found a solution.

Click "Start" menu, click "Run", open "Run" dialog box and enter "regedit" (excluding quotation marks, as shown in Figure 2), then click "OK" to open "Register" Table Editor, locate the following item (Figure 3) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\ControlSet001\\Services\\W32Time\\TimeProviders\\NtpClient, you can see that there is a value of SpecialPollInterval on the right, this is the interval of "time synchronization", the unit It is seconds, double-click it to pop up the dialog box shown in Figure 4. Click "Decimal" and enter a number, such as 3600, which represents an hour, then click "OK", and finally close the "Registry Editor".

Then double-click the time display area of the tray area, open the "Date and Time Properties" dialog box, click "Internet Time" tab, then click the "Update Now" button, time After the synchronization is successful, the time of the next time synchronization will be displayed in the dialog box (Figure 5). It can be seen that the time of the next time synchronization is one hour later.
